Ancient Faith Radio 5.0

Posted by Bobby · Friday, February 14, 2014

Just a quick note to let you know that we are working on the next generation of Ancient Faith Radio. The new Ancient Faith Radio website will incorporate a richer set of features and an improved search function; it will allow listeners to create customizable playlists; it will offer translations of our podcast transcripts in several different languages; it will better deliver video content; and it will allow for increased advertising integration. Plus, AFR will have a slick new look and feel that will be more intuitive than our current site and exhibit improved navigability. More on this as we approach the launch, which will happen later this year!

Live Divine Liturgies!

Posted by Bobby · Monday, February 10, 2014

Plans are finally underway to provide a weekly live audio stream of the Divine Liturgy. We have long wanted to provide this service for shut-ins and others who simply cannot attend church on a weekly basis, and now it looks like it is finally becoming a reality. For now we will broadcast services from a single parish, but we eventually want to feature liturgies from three different churches, one each from the OCA, Greek, and Antiochian archdioceses. We would stream from these parishes on a rotating basis and on a separate channel from our talk and music stations.

Obviously, this is a somewhat complicated endeavor, requiring a lot of technical setup and coordination, so it may be a while before we expand in this fashion—and even longer before we work out all of the kinks. Check back here often for further announcements, and please let me know if you have any questions.

AFR Headquarters

Posted by Bobby · Friday, February 07, 2014

Ancient Faith Radio now has over 80 podcasts; we are averaging around 400,000 downloads a month; and we have listeners in over 130 countries. Whenever I see these stats, I just have to smile—not because I am so pleased with our growth and reach (which I am), but because of the humble environs from which all of our content emanates. Currently, I am sitting on the couch in the basement of my home in a t-shirt, jeans, and no shoes. A block away, my mother and father, the founders of Ancient Faith Radio, are in their house and in similar attire, each of us attending to some aspect of the ministry.

Our marketer is at home in Kansas City, Missouri, our webmaster is at his home near Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and that's pretty much it. Oh, and we have a podcast producer who lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and my wife Paige, also a producer, lives here with me (of course!). As tiny and virtual as our office is, however, we do have a headquarters, and I thought you might enjoy seeing a picture of it. Here are the Ancient Faith Radio studios:
