Behind the Scenes

A New Addition to AFR—Kinda

Posted by Bobby · Wednesday, June 25, 2014

My apologies for the long gap between this post and my last one. That said, I have been rather busy of late, what with the arrival of my fourth child (and first boy!). His name is Myron Zachary Maddex, and he was born on June 11th at around 5:30 AM. At birth, he weighed seven pounds and five ounces, but he has packed on some poundage since then, particularly in the neck. :) In any event, he is currently the last of the Maddex line and may very well remain so, provided my cousin doesn't take care of business. In keeping with the spirit of nepotism that we got going around here at AFR, we have already given the little guy a job title. According to my father, Myron has been named the Vice President of AFR's new Nappy Division. Clearly, the boy is excited about his promotion:

Ancient Faith Blogs

Posted by Bobby · Tuesday, May 27, 2014

If you're like me, you follow several Orthodox blogs, but you don't have the time or inclination to look into other such blogs that may or may not share the same quality. But what if the best and most reliable blogs on the internet were gathered in a single place, making it easy for you to consume and then cross-reference their content while resting assured that your reading stands on solid theological ground? I'm not talking new blogs, mind you, but rather the cream of the crop of what already exists, compiled together and carrying the imprimatur of Ancient Faith Ministries, one of the most trusted sources of Orthodox media in the world. Introducing Ancient Faith Blogs—your one-stop location for the very best Orthodox writing on the internet. Look for it this fall in conjunction with AFR 5.0, the most ambitious iteration of Ancient Faith Radio to date.

Even More New Podcasts in the Works

Posted by Bobby · Tuesday, May 06, 2014

The hits just keep on coming. In addition to "Ancient Paths" with Fr. James Guirguis and "Recollecting Glory" with Dr. John Mark Reynolds, both of which debut later this week, we have two additional podcasts in various states of development. First up will probably be "The Seeking Heart" with Jodie Boychuk. Jody is the author of the "Imperfectly Ordinary" blog and the creator of "Grumpy Orthodox Cat," and her podcast will feature both short, informal, essay-style ruminations about how Orthodox Christianity applies to modern life and Q&A sessions in which she will answer one or two questions posed by inquirers into Orthodoxy.

The other podcast is "On Social Justice" with Mariam Youseff. Mariam lives in Los Angeles, California, where she works as an educator in South Central Los Angeles. She is also a student at Claremont Graduate University in the department of Women and Religion. Her podcast will explore biblical and patristic writings that deal with social justice and apply them to current situations around the world. Look for both podcasts within the month!
