Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.

And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. After they saw the baby Jesus, the shepherds went back, praising God for all that they had seen. And then, when Jesus was eight days old, His parents named Him Jesus, just like the angel had told them to do.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. John was a very holy man. He preached, “Repent! For the Kingdom of God is near!”
He was not afraid to tell people who were sinning that they were doing wrong. One time, he told King Herod that he was breaking God’s rules. King Herod was not happy. He had John put in jail.

When Jesus heard that John had been put in jail, he left Nazareth. He went to Galilee. The Gentiles (people who are not Jewish) lived in Galilee. Jesus began to live there with the Gentiles.

Many years before, the prophet Isaiah had said that in Galilee of the Gentiles, “the…
