One day, our Lord Jesus taught his followers that whoever wants to follow Him should not just do whatever they want to do. Instead, they should do what God wants them to, even if it is very hard. He said that those who do things God’s way will be saved.
He reminded His followers that, even if they got everything in the whole world, they would not have anything as important as their souls. He also reminded them not to be ashamed to follow Him. He said that when He comes again, He will be ashamed of anyone who was ashamed of Him while they lived on Earth.
Then He promised that some of his followers would live to see God’s Kingdom…

At that time, Elizabeth, the wife of Zachariah conceived, and for five months she hid herself, saying, “Thus the Lord has done to me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.”
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came to her and said, “Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you! At that time, a young lady named Mary was living in a city called Nazareth.
The angel Gabriel came to visit Mary one day, and said, “Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women!” Mary was afraid. At that time, Jesus took his twelve disciples, and began to tell them what was to happen to him, saying, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles; and they will mock him, and scourge him, and spit upon him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise again.”

One time, our Lord Jesus told His disciples that when they went to Jerusalem, many sad things would happen to Him. He told them that He would die, and after three days, He would rise again.
James and John came to talk to Jesus. They asked Him to do something for them. “What do you want Me to do?” He asked.
“We want you to let us sit right beside You, in the special seats on your left and right, when you are in Your glory,” they answered.
Jesus said, “Before that happens, all three of us will have hard things happen to us. It is not my job to say who will sit right beside me, anyway.”
When the other disciples…
