At that time, Elizabeth, the wife of Zachariah conceived, and for five months she hid herself, saying, “Thus the Lord has done to me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.”
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came to her and said, “Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be.

At that time, a young lady named Mary was living in a city called Nazareth.
The angel Gabriel came to visit Mary one day, and said, “Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women!” Mary was afraid. The angel said, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you will have a special baby. You will name him, Jesus. “ Mary wondered how this would happen, and the angel explained, “The Holy Spirit will make this happen. The child will be the Son of God.”

At that time, Jesus took his twelve disciples, and began to tell them what was to happen to him, saying, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles; and they will mock him, and scourge him, and spit upon him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise again.”
And James and John, the sons of Zeb’edee, came forward to him, and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” And Jesus said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” And they said to him, “Grant…

One time, our Lord Jesus told His disciples that when they went to Jerusalem, many sad things would happen to Him. He told them that He would die, and after three days, He would rise again.
James and John came to talk to Jesus. They asked Him to do something for them. “What do you want Me to do?” He asked.
“We want you to let us sit right beside You, in the special seats on your left and right, when you are in Your glory,” they answered.
Jesus said, “Before that happens, all three of us will have hard things happen to us. It is not my job to say who will sit right beside me, anyway.”
When the other disciples…

Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Laz’arus who had died was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Laz’arus was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.
But Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples (he who was to betray Jesus), said, “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief,…
