Our Lord Jesus Christ was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. John was a very holy man. He preached, “Repent! For the Kingdom of God is near!”
He was not afraid to tell people who were sinning that they were doing wrong. One time, he told King Herod that he was breaking God’s rules. King Herod was not happy. He had John put in jail.
When Jesus heard that John had been put in jail, he left Nazareth. He went to Galilee. The Gentiles (people who are not Jewish) lived in Galilee. Jesus began to live there with the Gentiles.
Many years before, the prophet Isaiah had said that in Galilee of the Gentiles, “The…

At that time, as Jesus entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When Jesus saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed.
Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back praising God with a loud voice; and fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.

One day, our Lord Jesus Christ came into a village. Ten friends came to see Him. They stayed away from Jesus, but said loudly, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

When Jesus saw the ten friends, he told them to go and show themselves to the priests. The friends trusted Jesus and obeyed Him right away. As they walked towards where the priests were, their sores got better.…

At that time, Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus, for he was to pass that way.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully.
And when they saw it they all murmured, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who…

One day, our Lord Jesus Christ was walking through the city of Jericho. Many people were with Him. A man named Zacchaeus was there too. Zacchaeus was a tax collector. In those days, tax collectors often got rich from taking extra taxes from people and keeping the extra money for themselves. Zacchaeus was a rich man. Zacchaeus also was not very tall. When the crowd was passing by, he wanted to see who Jesus was. But because Zacchaeus was short, he could not see over the crowd.
There was a sycamore tree growing nearby. Sycamore trees can grow to be very high. Zacchaeus saw the tall tree and climbed it. Now he could see who Jesus was!
