At that time, as Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
And as he sat at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when Jesus heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but…

One day, our Lord Jesus Christ passed by a man. His name was Matthew. He was at work when Jesus passed him. His work was to get money from people to give to their country. Many people did not like the men who did this work, because sometimes the men took extra money for themselves.
But Jesus liked Matthew! He stopped to talk with him. He said, “Come, follow Me.”

The Lord spoke this parable,
“The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ And he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
As he said…

One day, our Lord Jesus told a parable. A parable is a story that has a special meaning. He said, “Once there was a very rich man. One year, the man’s crops grew so well that he didn’t know what to do! He had too much grain to fit into his barns. ‘What should I do?’ the man wondered.

Then I will tell myself, “Self, you have plenty of food, and stuff to last you for many years. Relax! Eat all you want! Drink what you want! Be happy!”’
“But God said to…

John was standing with two of his disciples; and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, “What do you seek?” And they said to him, “Rabbi, (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying; and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his brother Simon, and said to him, “We have…
