I must admit that I tend to look askance at celebrities—when I think about them at all—and am often disgusted when I hear about their lives. But here’s a story about Abba Pambo that turns that view back onto me:

(When Abba Pambo saw an actress) he began to weep. Those who were present asked him the reason for his tears, and he said, ‘Two things make me weep: one, the loss of this woman; and the other, that I am not so concerned to please God as she is to please wicked men.’

So you might ask yourself: am I as concerned with God’s attention as celebrities are with the attention of others?

"These days, Ancient Faith Radio is what I first hear in the morning upon awakening and the last thing I hear before going to sleep at night. As I am in the process of converting to Orthodoxy, I find having the music on each day very helpful in keeping an Orthodox mindset. "
