How Grace Becomes Active
August 12, 2010 Length: 1:01
St. Mark the Ascetic on observing the commandments.
We know that we are supposed to be transformed by God’s grace, but it may seem to you like this transformation hasn’t started yet. How does grace become active in your life? St. Mark the Ascetic gives us the key:
Grace has been given mystically to those who have been baptized into Christ; and it becomes active within them to the extent that they actively observe the commandments. Grace never ceases to help us secretly; but to do good—as far as lies in our power—depends on us.
Being transformed by the grace of God entails truly following and obeying Him.
"I am so glad that I found AFR. I am a cradle Orthodox, and I never got a chance to really learn about Orthdoxoy in my youth. As the years passed, I wanted to learn more, and that is when I discovered AFR. Boy am I glad that I did. Words cannot express what I have learned and am still learning on this site! Keep up the good work. I can't get enough of it!"
