Pray at Night
December 19, 2010 Length: 1:01
Elder Amphilochios of Patmos on the importance of evening prayer.
Transcript
Most of us have some type of ritual before going to bed—brushing your teeth, reading the Bible, etc. One thing that must be on our list of nighttime activities is praying to God, as Elder Amphilochios of Patmos says:
Do not neglect evening prayer. Pray with eagerness like those who are going to a feast. They are awake and feel joy alone. Thus, since you are going to speak with your Bridegroom, do not listen when the Tempter tells you various things in order to hinder you, because you know there is someone who cares for you.
"Circumstances meant that I would take up residency in North Carolina but miles from any local parishes. Thanks be to God I discovered that I can bring the beautiful sounds of Orthodoxy right into my home any time at all, and hear the voices of a few old dear friends too."
