Take a Note!

St. Peter of Damascus on the benefits for the spiritual life of taking notes.
For some time now I’ve maintained a collection of quotes from Church Fathers and Orthodox teachers. St. Peter of Damascus tells us that he took notes as part of his spiritual discipline:
Often a thought has occurred to me, and it was by writing it down that I committed it to memory. Thus in time of spiritual struggle I had it as a source of aid or relief or gratitude, supported as it was by the testimony of divine Scripture. Had I been negligent about writing it down, I would not have found it when I had need of it, and I would have been deprived of its help by that greatest of evils, forgetfulness.
"I am coming up on two years of listening to AFR and wanted to let you know I was chrismated in the local Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church I attend right before Christmas. AFR has been a wonderful source of information and inspiration on my journey to the Orthodox Church. Thanks for all that you are doing!!"
