The Seventh Ecumenical Council on benefitting from God's commandments.
Modern Christians are often disturbed by the misconception that canon law and rules might limit or confine us. But the Seventh Ecumenical Council—in a statement directed to priests—points out to all of us that the canons are glorious aids to our Christian life when it says,
For those who have received the priestly dignity, the inscribed canons and enactments serve as testimonies and directions, which we, gladly receiving, sing together with the divinely inspired David unto the Lord, saying: I delight in the way of Your testimonies as much as in all riches (Psalm 118:14). Likewise, You commanded Your testimonies exceedingly..righteousness forever; Give me understanding, and I shall live (Psalm 118:138, 144).
"Would like to thank you for the varied programmes you do. I am an Anglican based in Leicester in the UK and came across your station last year on the internet. I listen most days to your music podcast whilst preparing lessons for my students early in the morning, and I listen to your teaching podcasts via my mp3 player at other times. One or two of my students have even commented on the calming presence of the worship. The content is excellent, and the programmes are ministering to my spiritual needs. My appreciation for the Orthodox faith has deepened, and I am particularly enjoying the new series by Abbott Tryphon whose wisdom is down to earth and yet very practical. May God continue to bless your ministry. "
