St. John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him. He said, “This is the Lamb of God. I told you he would come. I did not know him, but he is the reason I am baptizing in water. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. He is the Son of God.”

Do you know who is in the icon?

Do you see the hand in the corner of the icon? This shows that God gave a blessing to John.

God sent John to baptize people in a river. Why do you think Jesus was

coming toward John?

Where were you baptized?

Who did John say that Jesus is?

What is on the circle in the bottom corner of the icon? It is there to remind us that John the Baptist was killed by King Herod.

About
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17 NKJV) Prepare your heart, and the hearts of your children, by listening to this Sunday’s Gospel. The Gospel is paraphrased for younger children and read for older children, followed by engaging questions to help us think about what we’ve heard. You can download an illustrated copy of each week’s Gospel at www.antiochian.org/christianeducation/letusattend Let Us Attend! Sunday’s Gospel for Children is a production of the Antiochian Orthodox Department of Christian Education, in partnership with Ancient Faith Radio.
